The JRC, the ENCR are organising a training course on basic statistical analysis of cancer registry data.

Following the success of the first edition of the course in May 2017, the training will focus on the importance of data comparability by using harmonised coding systems and following international reccommendations.

JRC and ENCR organised on 3-4 May 2017 a training on Cancer Data Collection and Comparability with one day devoted to issues related to data collection, and the second day to quality aspects of data analysis. A specific session on childhood cancer registration was included.
A Training Workshop on Quality of Cancer Registry Data took place on 5 October 2016, as a side event to the Scientific Meeting and General Assembly. About 50 participants attended the workshop which covered the process of data quality evaluation, methods for assessing the completeness of data, use of the JRC-ENCR Quality Check software and reading outputs. The JRC provided feedback on the ENCR-JRC project and the further processing and feedback that will be sent to the registries.
The aim of the training is to provide cancer registries staff with an understanding of good practices and procedures to establish/improve their registries and harmonise their process for collection of cancer data. This will facilitate inter-comparative studies on specific cancer types which in turn will help steer and appraise European, National and Regional cancer policy programmes.

More information will be added in the coming months.

The IACR (International Association of Cancer Registries) and the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR) organise a combined conference of NAACCR and IACR. The conference will take place 9–13 June 2019, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Registration is now open. More information is available on https://www.naaccr.org/naaccr-iacr2019/
