The JRC and the ENCR Steering Committee are organising a new data call to the European cancer registries, in order to update the cancer burden statistics in the European Cancer Information System. Through a coordinated data call and the sharing of protocols, registries will be able to submit their data to other key international projects, including IARC’s “Cancer Incidence in Five Continents, Volume XII” and EUROCARE-7.
In preparation to the new call, the JRC has made transparent the procedures regulating data collection and processing, and described related data protection safeguards. Purpose and conditions of all processing operations are accessible to any interested person in a data protection record. The protocol for the new data call is currently undergoing finalization and will be presented soon to the registries, which will be contacted also to initiate the administrative procedures necessary for the data submission.
