CancerWatch News: The European survey on cancer registry practices is now open

The CancerWatch Joint Action is conducting a Europe-wide survey on population-based cancer registry practices. The survey has been developed in collaboration with the European Network of Cancer Registries (ENCR) and the Joint Research Centre.

The survey will produce an updated, comparable European overview of how cancer registration is organised, resourced and implemented in practice. Broad participation from cancer registries is essential to ensure that this overview accurately reflects real-world conditions across Europe.

Why completing the survey matters

  • It amplifies the voice of all participating Cancer Registries
  • It strengthens the evidence base for European cancer surveillance
  • It improves the quality and comparability of data feeding into ECIS
  • It provides a solid foundation for future European analyses and policy discussions

What the survey will deliver

Beyond a descriptive overview, the results will:

  • Generate European-level insights into cancer registry systems
  • Inform tailored, registry-relevant recommendations
  • Help shape the next phases of the CancerWatch project, including priorities for capacity-building and harmonisation
