Motivation for standing for election

The main topics of interest to pursue during the term of ENCR Steering Committee are as follow:
- Contribute to extend the coverage of cancer registries in European countries without national coverage.
- Reinforce the surveillance of cancer as one of the main chronic diseases.
- Support cancer registries train and reserach.
- Work in the homogenization of primary codification of pathology reports.
- Harmonizing the collection of treatment.
- To work in the free availability of programs to calculate estimations and projections.
- Encourage the transfer of information just to address cancer politics prevention and cancer control.
And to support cancer registries in their daily activity.

Short CV

Murcia Cancer Registry has been my place of work for the last 25 years being the Director from 2018, join to my activity in Murcia University. I belong to IMIB (Murcia Socio-Health Research Institute) and CIBERESP (Epidemiology and Public Health Networking Biomedical Research Centre) in Spain.
My degree is in Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Public Health Specialist and my PhD in Public Health. My background includes clinical and epidemiological aspects. The surveillance and cancer control is my goal, personally, professionally and at public health level.
Up to date, I am involved in cancer working groups, contribute to cancer projects and have participate in scientific meetings, congress, workshops, and my desire is to continue participating and broaden my contribution to cancer registries and cancer surveillance.
Professional career:
- 1987 Degree on Medicine and General Surgery. Murcia University, School of Medicine, Murcia, Spain.
- 2003 Preventive Medicine and Public Health Specialist. Public Health Administration, Madrid, Spain.
- 2018 PhD in Medical Sciences.
As results of participating in several collaborative projects, I am co-author in many papers, mainly from EPIC (European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition), but also from EUROCARE, RARECARE, CONCORD and from national / regional research. Stand out:

In cancer network, I belong to REDECAN (Spanish Network of Cancer Registries) and ENCR. I have taught in Master of Public Health (Murcia University), International Course for External Evaluation of population cancer registries (REDEPICAN), Comparability and Quality Control of data (REDECAN), Workshop on Automated Cancer Registration, and tutor Preventive Medicine and Public Health Specialist.
