Motivation for standing for election
I worked for more than 20 years in cancer registration area and I would like to support the network to improve cancer registration coverage, data access and use in Europe. This aim will also contribute to European data harmonisation and will foster the role of cancer registries for cancer research and public health. In addition I would contribute to the training activities and research.

Luciana Neamtiu, PhD in Mathematics Applied in Medicine is a researcher at the Oncology Institute "Prof. dr. Ion Chiricuta" Cluj-Napoca where part of her work is in the Cluj Cancer Registry. During her appointments with the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission, and for the past 8 years, she focused mainly in all aspect of cancer registration as well as the development of quality assurance standards for the European breast and colorectal cancer patients. These functions and activities entailed interaction and close collaborations with all stakeholders in cancer care, including the inclusion of cancer patients in the development of standards for their treatment. Developing electronic communication of health promoting messages has also been one her functions, as these activities have also been incorporated in the platform developed by the JRC, the Knowledge Centre on Cancer. She had a significant contribution to the Knowledge Centre on Cancer (a Flagship initiative of Europe's Beating Cancer Plan) through the European Commission Initiative on Breast Cancer (ECIBC}, the European Commission's Initiative on Colorectal Cancer (ECICC) and the development of the European Cancer Information System (ECIS).
Currently, she coordinates a project on the development of professional skills of medical personnel involved in theĀ programs for prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
She has more than 20 years of experience in the area of cancer management and control, and in research (health services and health economics research), including eight years of experience in EU institutions: the JRC.
The research results were presented at national and international conferences and published in over 25 papers.
