EPH 2016: The Role of the Joint Research Centre in Supporting and harmonizing cancer data collection
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) Cancer Information Group hosted a Workshop at the 9th European Public Health Conference in Vienna on 11 November 2016.
This workshop consisted of six presentations, during a 90 minute session, and was an opportunity for the Cancer Information Group to disseminate information on the role of the JRC in supporting and harmonizing cancer data collection. The annual conference organised by the European Public Health Association (EUPHA) aims to contribute to the improvement of public health in Europe by offering a means for exchanging information and a platform for debate to researchers, policy makers, and practitioners in the field of public health and health services research as well as public health training and education in Europe.
The aim of the workshop was to present, describe and discuss the role of JRC in the development of the European Cancer Information System (ECIS). The Workshop highlighted many activities implemented by JRC in the development of the ECIS, underlining the collaboration with the ENCR and affiliated registries, and the actions and tools supporting their activities.
